Groupe Polyphénols has launched a seminar series called Webinars in Polyphenols Research. The plan is to offer our members inspiring polyphenol presentations also in between the biannual ICP conferences.  Each webinar will be centered on a specific topic in polyphenols science and shall include a confirmed and a young speaker.

The first Webinar in Polyphenols Research took place 28th April 2022 on the topic of “Polyphenols in natural soil systems”. The oral communications were given by Inderjit from University of Delhi and by Bridget McGivern from Colorado State University. The webinar was hosted by Aude Watrelot, Ann Hagerman and Denis Barron.

The second Webinar in Polyphenols Research took place 26th October 2022 on the topic of “Polyphenols Characterization in Complex Mixtures”. The oral communications were given by prof. Jean-Luc Wolfender from University of Geneve and by Dr. Delphine Winstel from University of Bordeaux. The webinar was hosted by Denis Barron.

The third Webinar in Polyphenols Research took place 8th March 2023 on the topic of “Polyphenols and food and beverage quality”. The oral communications were given by Dr. Catherine Renard from INRAE, France and by Elsa Brandão from University of Porto, Portugal. The webinar was hosted by Aude Watrelot.

The fourth Webinar in Polyphenols Research took place 26th March 2024 on the topic of “Biogenesis and biosynthesis of polyphenols in plants”. The oral communications were given by Dr. David Ma (University of Victoria, Canada): “Transcriptional regulation of anthocyanin and B-ring hydroxylation in poplar”, and by Prof. De-Yu Xie (North Carolina State University, USA): “The ANR pathway of flavan-3-ols and proanthocyanidins in plants”. The webinar was hosted by Aude Watrelot and Peter Constabel.

The 5th Webinar in Polyphenols Research entitled “Metabolomics and polyphenols” was held July 2nd 2024. The webinar included talks by MSc Catherine Dadmun (Cornell University, USA): “Unique Phenolic Profile of Disease-Resistant Hybrid Grapes and Wines”. and Dr. Nicolas Sommerer (INRAE, UMR SPO, Montpellier, France): “From light brown to deep dark chocolates, a polyphenol story”. The webinar was hosted by Aude Watrelot and Panagiotis Arapitsas.

The 6th Webinar in Polyphenols Research entitled “Polyphenols, nutrition and health” was held July 5th November 2024. The webinar included talks by Dr Ricardo Dias (University of Porto, Portugal): “From Food to Health: the Role of Polyphenols in Modulating Celiac Disease Pathways” and Prof Jess Reed (University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA): “Challenges to Research on the Effects of Dietary Polyphenols on Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Disease”. The webinar was hosted by Aude Watrelot and Nuno Mateus.
